The Divisione Calcio a 5 is an organization of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), responsible for organizing and managing national futsal competitions in Italy. There are six national categories: four for men (Serie A, A2 Elite, A2, and B) and two for women (Serie A, Serie B). In addition to these, it also covers the U19 men’s and women’s championships, the Coppa Italia (one for each category), the Supercoppa (men’s, women’s, U19 men’s, U19 women’s), and the Coppa della Divisione, a competition in which all men’s clubs compete, regardless of category.
The project
The Divisione Calcio a 5 partners with VOGO to introduce video refereeing in Italian futsal. The goal? To enhance the reliability of decisions, integrate the video challenge for coaches, and position Italy as a pioneer in technological innovation in sports.
The deployed solution
As part of its partnership with VOGO, the Divisione Calcio a 5 has deployed the VOGOSPORT ELITE solution, a video assistance system specially designed for futsal. This technology allows referees to review game actions in real-time through a multi-camera setup and a smooth interface, facilitating fairer and quicker decisions. A major innovation: the introduction of the video challenge, which allows coaches to request a review of a refereeing decision, a first in the world of futsal.
This solution also relies on VOKKERO ELITE, the audio system that has been used for several years by the Divisione Calcio a 5. It ensures clear and secure communication between referees during matches, even in a noisy and fast-paced environment like futsal. Together, these tools enhance the quality of refereeing, improve sporting fairness, and contribute to the professionalization of futsal in Italy.

A few months after taking office as President, it seemed essential to me to implement this project. Our technical partnership with VOGO was decisive, as were the discussions held with FIFA, the FIGC, the AIA, and the Divisione Calcio a 5 to make this dream a reality. During the men’s Coppa Italia finals, Italian futsal entered a new era, and given the great success and smooth operation of the Video Assistance, I decided to use it also for the upcoming women’s Coppa Italia finals, scheduled this week in Puglia. This tool will make futsal even more spectacular, provide valuable support to referees, and generate even more interest in our sport.”
