The Estonian Football Association is the governing body for football, beach soccer, and futsal in Estonia. It was established on December 14, 1921. The association organizes the football league, including the championship known as the Meistriliiga, the Estonian Cup, and the Estonian national football team. It is based in Tallinn. The EJL (Eesti Jalgpalli Liit) is a member of FIFA.
With over 30 editions to its name, the football championship in Estonia is held annually from March to November. It brings together 10 top-tier teams for a total of 180 matches.
The brief
The Estonian Football Association wanted to deploy a VAR Light video refereeing solution for its League 1 championship. It chose the VOGO ELITE BUNDLE solution.
The deployed solution
The VOGO ELITE BUNDLE solution combines the VOKKERO ELITE communication system and the VOGOSPORT ELITE video replay system, providing a complete, turnkey VAR Light workflow:
For video, the VOGOSPORT solution offers features such as simultaneous multi-angle viewing, zoom, replay, and slow motion. Each stadium is connected via fiber optics to the VOR room, and RRA zones allow on-field referees to review VAR sequences to make the necessary decisions.
For audio, VOKKERO’s technology, equipped with a patented noise filter, enables hands-free, plug-and-play use.
The result
A tailor-made solution
The VOGO ELITE BUNDLE solution was implemented based on the Association’s specific requirements. They opted for a centralized VOR room for all clubs and matches.
The room, equipped with three fully operational workstations, is located at the heart of the National Stadium in Tallinn. It allows video refereeing operations for three matches simultaneously during the championship.
Easy to use
VOGO conducted the training of VARs and AVARs in close collaboration with the Association. All referees were trained so that each can now officiate either on the field or in the VOR room, depending on the match.
VOGO’s intuitive and user-friendly solution allows VARs to be fully autonomous in handling the video. In this VAR Light setup, there is no replay operator; the VAR directly manages the VOGOSPORT ELITE system.
The system is installed in the TV truck and is fully ready to use at each stadium, with no dedicated VAR technician required.
A single provider
By combining its audio and video solutions, VOGO serves as a single provider for the Federation and provides technical support for the entire VAR chain.
